The shrink's office 04.12.2018 Soon it will be December I've sat in these chairs For longer than I can remember. My tears have been falling like they do in nightmares. He tells me not to think so much He gives me advice Tells me to not use my thoughts as a crutch He's ideas just won't suffice. I walk slowly Fall into my chair Wishing I could just be free After all, that would be fair.

Do you see that girl? The one over there. With earbuds in and curly hair. Curly hair that no one liked. That’s brought mild contempt a good part of her life. Do you see that girl? Sitting all alone, Making strange gestures over paper, tablet, or phone. She hides the fact that she can write and draw, From teachers and friends. (She’d hate if they saw.) Can you hear her hum? Tunes happy and sad. Just that simple action makes her heart glad. But she struggles to sing when others can hear. Her voice is a secret that she holds near. She plays the piano, the clarinet too. She’s actually proud of what she can do. B

This is for the ones like me, The ones who are broken but none can see. This is for the ones who've been lost, The ones who've paid a high cost. This is for the broken souls, Whose lives have washed up on barren shoals. This is for the ones who were broken in another's hands, The ones who've cried enough tears to cover vast lands. This is for the girl who has become unclean under his touch, For the boy who's suffered just as much. This is for the people shattered on the ground, For the ones who suffer without making a sound. This is for the broken ones, For all the daughters and sons.

Silence all the laughter, everyone is gone. Leave me here alone, and let life roll along. Shut out all the light, I don't wish you to see, this empty existence, now encapturing me. Close all the doors, let no one in. This person you knew, is no longer me. Lock all the windows, make this my cell. The dark is my prison, this is my hell. Block out those sounds, let life roll along. I can still hear the music, but it's not my song.

Crystalline teardrop cascade down her cheeks. She has been told yet again she is unworthy of love.
